TB-500 (Thymosin beta-4)

The active piece of a protein present in nearly every cell, acting on actin.

PropertyValue
TypePeptide fragment, 7 amino acids
OriginThymosin beta-4, a protein found throughout the body
Research fieldWound healing, blood vessel formation, heart tissue
Research statusPreclinical; early clinical studies ran for the full protein
FormFreeze dried powder

What it is

TB-500 is not the same as thymosin beta-4 itself. It is the short stretch identified as the active part, which makes it easy to produce in the lab where the full protein is not.

How it works

It binds actin, the filaments a cell uses to set its shape and to move. That sounds abstract but in repair it is the whole point: wound healing begins with cells crawling towards the damaged spot.

What the research shows

The literature centres on wound healing, blood vessel formation and heart tissue after oxygen shortage. For the full protein thymosin beta-4, early clinical studies were run, including in eye injury. For the fragment itself that level of evidence does not exist.

Research status

Preclinical. Most of the evidence comes from animal models.

Practical

Dissolves well in water. Often studied alongside BPC-157 and sold in blends; see judging blends for what to check with such a mixture.
